Where ideas meet opportunity, the WAVES Film Bazaar transforms cinematic dreams into reality—empowering creators, forging global partnerships, and redefining the business of storytelling in South Asia.
As the creative heart of the International Film Festival of India, the WAVES Film Bazaar (formerly Film Bazaar) returns for its 19th edition in 2025—bigger, bolder, and more global than ever. Recognized as South Asia’s largest and most influential film market, WAVES Film Bazaar is where the next generation of filmmakers, producers, and storytellers converge with industry leaders, sales agents, investors, and festival programmers from around the world.
A Marketplace for Stories and Collaboration
This year, the Bazaar will host over 300 film projects across its Screenwriters Lab, Market Screenings, Viewing Room Library, and the highly anticipated Co-Production Market for both feature films and documentaries. The 2025 edition features an expanded slate, with 22 feature films and 5 documentaries vying for co-production opportunities. Cash grants totaling $20,000 will be awarded to standout projects, fueling the dreams of emerging filmmakers.
In its “WAVES Film Bazaar Recommends” (WFBR) section, 22 films—spanning short fiction, mid-length documentaries, and feature-length narratives—will represent 14 languages and 4 countries, spotlighting a thrilling mix of new voices and debut directors.
Catalyzing Creative and Financial Partnerships
WAVES Film Bazaar is more than a marketplace—it’s a catalyst for creative and financial collaboration. Its networking events, pitching sessions, and Knowledge Series offer practical insights on production, distribution, and market trends. Delegations and pavilions from over seven countries and ten Indian states showcase a wide array of incentives, fostering a truly global environment for business and artistic exchange.
For producers and filmmakers, the Co-Production Market is a springboard for international partnerships. Whether you’re a debutant seeking guidance or an established creator looking to scale up, the Bazaar’s expert-driven sessions and targeted matchmaking make it the go-to destination for developing, financing, and selling films in the region.
Embracing Innovation: Tech Pavilion and Industry Trends
Reflecting the future-forward spirit of IFFI, the 2025 Bazaar introduces a dedicated Tech Pavilion, featuring demonstrations by leading technology companies in VFX, animation, CGI, and immersive filmmaking. This initiative, in collaboration with major industry partners, gives creators a hands-on look at the latest tools shaping the cinematic landscape.
Panels and masterclasses—led by luminaries like Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Pete Draper, Sreekar Prasad — will cover everything from film editing and digital acting to the impact of AI and sustainability in content production.
CinemAI Hackathon: New Initiative
WAVES Film Bazaar and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), in collaboration with LTIMindtree, are launching the first-ever CinemAI Hackathon as part of the 56th edition of IFFI. It celebrates the convergence of art, technology, and ethics in filmmaking. This initiative invites creators from around the world to explore the limitless potential of Artificial Intelligence in storytelling. The CinemAI Hackathon is a two-stage creative technology challenge open to all, with no entry fees. The winning entries will be awarded significant cash prizes.
Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers
WAVES Film Bazaar is a bridge between India’s rich storytelling tradition and the global film community. By bringing together voices from every corner of the subcontinent—and the world—it breaks down barriers, enabling stories that might otherwise remain untold to find new platforms and audiences.
Backed by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), the Bazaar’s mission is clear: to empower creators, foster international collaborations, and drive India’s creative economy forward. With an ever-expanding network of partners and an atmosphere charged with possibility, WAVES Film Bazaar is defining the future of South Asian cinema—one deal, one story, and one collaboration at a time.
