125 young filmmakers race against the clock at CMOT 2025, turning Goa into India’s creative launchpad and spotlighting the nation’s next global storytellers.
Goa just got a turbo-charged dose of creativity as the fifth edition of Creative Minds of Tomorrow (CMOT) 2025 kicked off, turning the scenic coastal city into a high-energy playground for India’s most promising young filmmakers. With “Talents in Turbo Mode!” as the theme, 125 rising stars are diving into an electrifying 48-hour filmmaking challenge—where scripts, cameras, and dreams collide at full speed.
Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, launched the event, cheering on the participants for their passion and creative zeal. He noted CMOT’s remarkable growth since 2021 and hailed the platform for connecting India’s emerging creators to global producers and creative networks.
“This is more than just filmmaking—it’s about shaping the nation’s creative future,” Dr. Murugan declared, highlighting the newly launched Indian Institute of Creative Technologies in Mumbai and the government’s push to foster a vibrant, innovation-driven creative sector.
As the young talents take on the 48-hour whirlwind, Dr. Murugan reminded them, “High-pressure experiences like this sharpen your skills and bring out your best.”
Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Sanjay Jaju, called the inclusion of these young creators a significant achievement, describing last year’s final showcase as “almost Oscar-like.”
He underscored the power of collaboration and revealed that several CMOT alumni are already making waves globally—including a National Film Award winner. “Many of you will become India’s future storytellers and global cultural ambassadors,” he said.
Carter Pilcher, founder and CEO of Shorts International, called this year’s CMOT “one of the most exciting editions to date,” praising the Ministry’s efforts for building a platform unlike any other in the world. Pilcher pointed out that past participants are now screening at Cannes, making the Oscars shortlist, and pushing boundaries in short-form storytelling—the very heartbeat of global entertainment.
The inauguration also saw the presence of Joint Secretary (Films) Dr. Ajay Nagabhushan and NFDC Managing Director Prakash Magdum, as the next-gen creators geared up to spin cinematic gold in record time.
CMOT 2025 isn’t just a contest—it’s where tomorrow’s directors, actors, and storytellers get their first shot at the spotlight, with the world watching.
