Over 300 delegates from India will be attending Cannes Film Market this year. They vary from established studios to independent filmmakers, producer-director to service providers — and everyone is at Cannes with an objective, focus and goal to accomplish.
Indian delegates are at Cannes to distribute or sell their completed films, find co-production partners, pitch films to festivals look out for a co-production partner or offer media and production services.
As a new initiative, Pickle will matchmake and connect India and overseas delegates for potential collaboration and partnerships.
India is the most film friendly and liberated media market in the world — 100 per cent FDI in film production, distribution and exhibition.
India has 13 active Co-Production Treaties with Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Israel, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, UK & Northern Ireland. It is now possible for filmmakers of different countries to come together and make films under bilateral co–production agreements. Co-productions under these agreements are more beneficial to filmmakers than a purely commercial partnership between two individuals or entities. New markets and audiences would be available for the product, especially if collaborations and partnerships are between nationals of different countries.
India has also established Film Facilitation Office towards promoting and facilitating film shootings by foreign filmmakers in India — the services are extended to Indian filmmakers as well.
