India’s youth have new dreams, and PM Modi has a playbook to match. In an address to a nationwide webinar series following the Union Budget, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spotlighted the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sector as a vanguard of India’s innovation-driven future. But the vision outlined was far broader—one that knits together education, health, tourism, sports, and culture as pillars of a developed, aspirational nation.

AVGC: At the Heart of Creative and Economic Growth
“India today is promoting the AVGC sector… (it) is moving towards an innovation-driven economy,” PM Narendra Modi declared, urging educational institutions to rethink their role as not just centers for learning, but as hubs for industry collaboration and research-driven innovation. He cited emerging models like university townships, which integrate academic learning with enterprise and real-world skills, as blueprints for the future.
The AVGC sector’s rise is emblematic of a deeper transformation in youth mindsets across India. From bustling cities to remote villages, young Indians are increasingly eager to innovate, experiment, and lead. PM Modi called this shift “the country’s greatest strength, the biggest capital for a bright future.” To harness this potential, he emphasized the importance of modernizing curricula to align with the needs of the digital economy, touching on AI, automation, and design-led manufacturing as vital frontiers.
Budget measures to establish content creator labs in schools and colleges, PM Modi revealed, are designed to nurture this talent pipeline—positioning AVGC not just as an industry, but as a driver of millions of future jobs in a globally competitive market.
Education for a New Era: Bridging Skills and Opportunity
Yet AVGC does not stand alone. The PM’s address unfolded against the backdrop of a broader educational renaissance. PM Modi highlighted the National Education Policy’s focus on updating curricula to meet market demands, advocating for a seamless connection between education and the real-world economy. The message was clear: academic learning must translate into employable skills and entrepreneurial spirit.
The PM also celebrated the growing participation of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), emphasizing, “No girl should be stopped due to lack of opportunities.” He called for an inclusive research ecosystem where all young innovators—regardless of gender—can thrive.
A Holistic Approach: Health, Sports, and Tourism
The government’s vision extends beyond classrooms and digital labs. PM Modi underscored the importance of a “preventive and holistic” approach to health, noting the rapid expansion of medical colleges and the reach of Ayushman Bharat and Aarogya Mandirs into rural India. India’s traditional strengths—Yoga and Ayurveda—are gaining international recognition, yet the PM urged greater innovation in the “care economy,” particularly as the senior citizen population grows and demand for skilled caregivers rises both domestically and globally.
Telemedicine, another area of focus, has begun bridging gaps in remote healthcare access, but PM Modi acknowledged that more awareness and deeper penetration is needed to unlock its full potential.
On the sporting front, the PM argued that “youth power becomes national power only when it is healthy, disciplined, and confident.” Initiatives like Khelo India are invigorating the country’s sports ecosystem, with new infrastructure and talent-scouting programs. As India gears up for major global events like the Commonwealth Games and aspires to host the Olympics, PM Modi called for early identification and nurturing of young athletes—especially from small towns—and for professionalizing sports bodies across the board.
Tourism and Culture: Engines of Employment and Identity
Tourism and culture, said PM Modi, are not just about heritage and leisure—they are powerful engines of employment and urban branding. He noted a conscious shift from focusing on a handful of destinations to developing tourist sites across the country, leveraging India’s vast historical and cultural canvas. Suggestions from the webinar participants were solicited on everything from digital connectivity and community participation to hospitality skills and cleanliness—a holistic approach to tourism that benefits both visitors and local communities.
Collaboration: The Key to Rapid Change
A recurring theme in PM Modi’s vision is collaboration. The PM stressed that when institutions, industry, and academia work in concert, the pace of progress accelerates. The webinar format itself—a post-budget tradition—has become a crucible for fresh ideas and practical solutions, drawing “lakhs” of stakeholders from across the country.
Participants are not just passive listeners, but active contributors, with many practical, actionable suggestions emerging on everything from curriculum development to sports financing and tourism branding. PM Modi’s administration sees this spirit of collective problem-solving as critical to translating budget announcements into real-world impact.
AVGC as a Flagship—But Not Alone
While AVGC’s rise to prominence is a strong indicator of India’s creative and technological ambitions, the sector’s success is intimately linked with broader systemic changes across health, sports, tourism, and education. The PM’s speech made it clear: India’s approach to development is holistic, rooted in the belief that progress in one area unlocks potential in others.
As India marches toward Viksit Bharat—an India that fulfills the aspirations of all its people—the intersection of innovation, inclusion, and collaboration will be the true engine of growth. In this vision, AVGC stands as both a symbol and a beneficiary of a nation on the move, but its future is entwined with every other sector working in tandem for a brighter tomorrow.
