Raja Rani is director Atlee’s debut project. The movie is a light-hearted romantic comedy about John and Regina who get married, even though they can’t stand each other and how they realize that there is life and love in their new relationship. Both have a romantic past of their own. How they decide to let go of their past and embrace the future is what the plot is all about. The movie stars Arya, Nayantara, Jai, Nazriya Nazim as the lead actors. Director Atlee revealed that he wrote the script with Arya in mind to portray the lead role, and was insistent on signing Nayantara as the female lead as he felt they made a good onscreen pair.
