With new opportunities for both feature films and web-series, and the invaluable guidance of Cannes Marche veteran Jerome Paillard, Film Bazaar 2024 is poised to be a landmark event in the global film market
Film Bazaar, South Asia’s leading film market, returns for its 18th edition, set to take place from November 20-24, 2024, at the luxurious Marriott Resort in Goa. Organized by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) alongside the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Film Bazaar has established itself as a crucial nexus for global filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals. This year, the event promises to be even more dynamic, with exciting new developments and an enriched program designed to foster international collaborations and showcase innovative projects.
A New Chapter in Film Bazaar’s Evolution
Since its inception in 2007, Film Bazaar has grown into a vital platform for South Asian and international cinema. Its mission is to support and promote the growth of the film industry by facilitating creative and financial partnerships. With a track record of successful films such as Lunch Box, Margarita With A Straw, and Court finding their initial momentum through the Bazaar, this year’s edition aims to build on that legacy with a range of enhanced offerings and new features.
The inclusion of Jerome Paillard, the former head of Cannes Marche and a luminary in global film markets, as an advisor marks a significant enhancement for Film Bazaar 2024. Paillard’s extensive experience and global perspective will bring a new dimension to the event.
Also Vineeta Mishra, as Head of Programming, Film Bazaar, whose 18 years in media and her previous role at Book My Show add substantial depth to the programming team.

Key Highlights of Film Bazaar 2024
Expanded Co-Production Market
A Dual Focus For the first time, Film Bazaar’s Co-Production Market (CPM) will include a dedicated segment for web-series alongside its traditional focus on feature films. This move acknowledges the growing prominence of web-series in the global content landscape and offers a new platform for creators to secure financial and artistic support. The CPM will continue to connect South Asian and international producers, distributors, and financiers, enhancing the opportunities for cross-border collaborations.
NFDC Screenwriters’ Lab
Embracing New Narratives The NFDC Screenwriters’ Lab, known for nurturing innovative screenwriting, will this year open its doors to web-series projects. This expansion reflects the evolving trends in content consumption and provides screenwriters with the opportunity to develop their scripts under the mentorship of international experts. The lab will focus on both feature films and web-series, offering a comprehensive approach to storytelling and script development.
Market Screenings
A Platform for Global Exposure Market Screenings will once again serve as a crucial venue for filmmakers to showcase their work to a global audience of sales agents, distributors, and festival programmers. With past selections including films like Skater Girl and Axone, this year’s screenings will continue to provide filmmakers with vital exposure and the chance to forge meaningful industry connections.
Producers’ Workshop
Crafting Winning Projects The Producers’ Workshop returns with a focus on preparing projects for cross-cultural and cross-border audiences. The workshop will cover essential aspects of film production, from development and funding to pitching and distribution. This year’s program will emphasize strategies for monetizing films in both domestic and international markets, providing participants with practical tools to enhance their projects.
NFDC Knowledge Series
Insights and Innovations The Knowledge Series will feature a range of presentations, lectures, and panel discussions with key industry figures. Topics will cover the evolution of content, emerging co-production opportunities, and the art of navigating festivals and film markets. This series offers invaluable insights for professionals looking to stay ahead of industry trends and make the most of the opportunities presented at Film Bazaar.
Work-in-Progress Lab
The Work-in-Progress Lab, a vital component of the Film Bazaar, serves as a nurturing ground for raw talent and emerging filmmakers. Doubling its project count from the previous year, this dynamic platform provides filmmakers with an invaluable opportunity to showcase their projects at various stages of development and receive constructive feedback from industry experts. With a focus on supporting filmmakers in refining their works and bringing their creative visions to life, the Work-in-Progress Lab plays a crucial role in nurturing talent and fostering innovation within the global film industry.
Viewing Room
The Viewing Room presents films from India and South Asia, which are recently completed or still in post-production, at the Film Bazaar. These films are looking for film festivals, world sales, distribution partners and also finishing funds. Viewing Room connects Sellers (filmmakers) with Buyers (film programmers, distributors, world sales agents and investors) from around the world. Buyers are able to watch the films, access details about the films as well as contact the filmmakers through the specially designed Viewing Room Software. This is a highly restricted zone with the aim of making it a safe space for filmmakers who submit their unreleased films.
The VFX & Tech Pavilion
Positioned to encourage filmmakers to think beyond conventional methods of filming, this innovative space aims to inspire creatives to explore inventive ways of shaping stories using cutting-edge technology. From virtual production and virtual reality to advanced visual effects, this Pavilion promises to be a hub of creativity and innovation, offering filmmakers a glimpse into the future of cinematic storytelling.
Film Offices
Film Offices from different states play a crucial role in supporting filmmakers by providing them with essential resources, information, and assistance to facilitate film production in their respective regions. These offices serve as a one-stop destination for filmmakers seeking guidance on location scouting, permits, incentives, and other logistical aspects of filmmaking. By offering personalized support and fostering a conducive environment for film production, Film Offices play a pivotal role in attracting filmmakers and promoting their regions as desirable filming destinations. With their expertise and dedication, Film Offices contribute to the growth and development of the local film industry while strengthening ties with the global filmmaking community.
