Konttho

Director duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s new film is Konttho. It is a film inspired from the life and struggles of late Bibhuti Chakraborty, who was a laryngeal cancer survivor. Kantho revolves around a cancer survivor, who not only wins the battle of life but also embarks on a new journey soon after.

Ghawre Bairey Aaj

Aparna Sen is is back to direction in Bengali cinema with Ghawre Bairey Aaj. Produced by SVF, the film is a modern day take on Rabindranath Tagore’s Ghawre Bairey. While Anirban Bhattacharya will be seen as Nikhilesh, Jisshu Sengupta will essay the character of Sandip.

Vinci Da

Srijit Mukherji’s thriller Vinci Da revolves around a make-up artist and a serial killer.Ritwick Chakraborty and Rudranil Ghosh play the lead roles, while Anirban Bhattacharya will be seen as a police officer. This will be Srijit’s third thriller after Baishe Srabon and Chotushkone.

Bela Shuru

Three years after Bela Seshe, Shiboprosad and Nandita have announced Bela Shuru, a fresh film with the same characters and actors but it won’t be a sequel of the super hit film. Shiboprosad Mukherjee said, “A story inspired us. So we decided to bring our favorite family back with a new story.”

Kakababur Protyaborton

Director Srijit Mukherji and Shree Venkatesh Films have reunited for the third installment of Kakababu titled Kakababur Protyaborton. Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee will return to don the role of Kakababu aka Raja Roy Chowdhury. Reviving the character of Santu will be actor Aryaan Bhowmick.

Mahalaya

Subhashish Mukherjee will be seen as Birendra Krishna Bhadra and Jisshu Sengupta will play Uttam Kumar in Mahalaya. The story revolves around the public outrage in 1976 following Akashvani Kolkata’s controversial replacement of Birendra Krishna Bhadra with Uttam Kumar for Mahisasurmardini, a program to welcome goddess Durga to earth. Prosenjit Chatterjee has produced the film through his banner Nideas Creations.

Nagarkirtan

Kaushik Ganguly’s Nagarkirtan, which earned young actor Riddhi Sen a national award, is a film dealing with LGBT issue. Starring Ritwick Chakraborty and Riddhi Sen in the lead, the film follows two persons from LGBT community who are in a relationship. The story shading light on the taboo of same-sex love has already bagged four National Awards including the best actor award won by Riddhi Sen

Ahaa Re

Ahaa Re is a romantic story starring Rituparna Sengupta and Arfin Shuvoo. According to its director Ranjan Ghosh, “It’s sort of a fairy tale crossover love story. A rich Muslim chef from Dhaka (Arfin) and a middle class Hindu home cook (Rituparna), using their passion for food and culinary arts start a new journey of finding love. They connect through the art of making ordinary ingredients in an extraordinary way. This food movie focuses as much as on love as our tribulations in life.”

Cat Sticks

Photographer Ronny Sen is making his directorial debut with Cat Sticks. The film is about brown sugar addicts in Kolkata. It is shot in flickering black and white.
