IFFI 56 breaks language and accessibility barriers with CineDubs, making cinema a shared experience for all—no matter their language or ability.
In a landmark stride towards accessibility and inclusivity, the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is reshaping the way audiences experience cinema. This year, the festival has introduced CineDubs—a groundbreaking multilingual audio-support app—ensuring that language is no longer a barrier to enjoying world-class films.
CineDubs: Cinema in Any Language
CineDubs empowers moviegoers to watch select festival films in the language of their choice, regardless of the original language of the screening. With just a few taps, users can download their preferred audio track, and the app’s patented audio-synchronization technology automatically syncs it with the film playing in the theatre. The result is a seamless, immersive, and highly personalized viewing experience—one that allows diverse audiences to enjoy films together, each in their own language.
This innovation is set to transform the festival’s atmosphere, drawing in multilingual audiences and streamlining auditorium operations. CineDubs not only enables cinephiles to watch global and regional films beyond linguistic barriers, but also encourages shared viewing among friends and families who speak different languages.
Expanding Accessibility: Audio Description and Closed Captions
IFFI 56’s drive for inclusivity doesn’t stop at language. The festival is also offering special screenings equipped with Audio Description (AD) and Closed Captions (CC). Audio Description provides narrated details of on-screen action and visuals, making films accessible to visually impaired viewers; Closed Captions supply on-screen text for dialogue, sound cues, and other essential audio information, supporting those who are hearing impaired.
With these features, IFFI is ensuring that every attendee—regardless of sensory ability—can fully engage in the magic of cinema.
A Vision of True Inclusivity
The integration of CineDubs and enhanced accessibility measures underscores IFFI’s commitment to diversity and its vision for a film festival where everyone is welcome. By removing language and sensory barriers, IFFI 56 is pioneering a new standard for inclusivity in the global film community—turning boundaries into bridges and making cinema truly universal.
