Randeep Hooda leads a powerful retelling of Veer Savarkar’s revolutionary journey, spotlighting his vision for a strong and independent India.
At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the team responsible for the biographical drama Swatantrya Veer Savarkar engaged with the media, as the film was presented as the opening feature of the Indian Panorama section.
The gathering provided an opportunity to contemplate the artistic evolution of the film and its importance in a historical context.
Randeep Hooda, who took on the titular role of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and also directed the film, drew a parallel between the challenges of production and the hardships endured by Veer Savarkar during India’s fight for independence.
In the media interaction, he emphasised the importance of sharing the true narrative of our overlooked hero, Veer Savarkar, with the public.
He further stated that Savarkar consistently envisioned a militarily robust India. Currently, our standing on the global stage has seen remarkable enhancement. The film emphasises a significant dimension of our armed struggle, illustrating how it motivated revolutionaries to rise and fight for independence,” he stated.
Actress Anjali Hooda, portraying Bhikaji Cama in the film, shared insights on how her character has enriched her comprehension of Savarkar’s personal life. This film served as a significant revelation for me. She expressed her hope that more films of this nature will be produced in the future to illuminate the stories of our overlooked heroes.
Attendees of the press conference included Jay Patel, MrinalDutt, and Amit Sial. Their experiences were shared, emphasising the significance of such films within the realm of Indian cinema.
The film explores the life of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, highlighting his contributions as a revolutionary thinker and poet in the struggle for India’s independence.
The narrative delves into his evolution into a fervent supporter of armed resistance, examining his ideological conflicts and the years he spent imprisoned in the Cellular Jail.
