Telangana Courts Global Audiovisual Investment

Telangana heads to MIPCOM with Hyderabad’s creative strengths, inviting global studios and investors to explore its expanding audiovisual business opportunities.

Telangana is heading to MIPCOM with a clear invitation to global studios and investors: build your next audiovisual business in Hyderabad. The state’s pitch brings together filmmaking, animation, visual effects, gaming and streaming, backed by an established creative ecosystem and expanding infrastructure. It also sets the stage for the Invest Telangana Global Summit, scheduled for December 7–9 at Bharat Future City, Hyderabad.

For international companies, the proposition extends beyond production services. Hyderabad offers a meeting point for storytellers, technology specialists and investors looking to develop content, establish studios and build original intellectual property. With IndiaJoy planned alongside Invest Telangana, the December gathering will connect the creative industries directly with the state’s wider investment agenda.

Telangana has been an early mover in positioning audiovisual businesses within the orange economy, where creativity generates economic value. Today, Telangana and other states are driving AVGC-XR in India, strengthening animation, visual effects, gaming, comics and extended reality through infrastructure, skills and industry partnerships. Hyderabad brings these capabilities together within a city experienced in delivering ambitious screen productions.

Sanjay Jaju, Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana, brings valuable continuity to this ambition. His association with Hyderabad’s animation and gaming sector dates to his earlier tenure as IT Secretary in undivided Andhra Pradesh. As Union Information and Broadcasting Secretary, he played a key role in shaping and coordinating the successful first edition of WAVES in Mumbai in May 2025, connecting India’s creative economy with global industry.

The next major infrastructure milestone is IMAGE Tower, the flagship project associated with Hyderabad’s IMAGE City ambition. With developer Sattva projecting completion soon, the 1.6 million square foot complex is designed to bring creative businesses, training and shared facilities together. Planned capabilities include motion capture, rendering and postproduction, giving studios access to specialised infrastructure within a dedicated audiovisual environment.

Telangana has spent successive editions of MIPCOM presenting this opportunity to international animation and VFX companies. The emphasis has been on building lasting operations, not merely attracting individual projects. As IMAGE Tower moves towards completion, the challenge is to translate sustained market engagement into studio commitments, creative partnerships and jobs.

Hyderabad’s film industry provides the strongest demonstration of what the city can deliver. S. S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali films and RRR have showcased the ambition and technical capabilities associated with its production ecosystem. Ramoji Film City supports filmmaking at scale through integrated shooting facilities, sets, technical services and accommodation, enabling productions to work within a comprehensive studio environment.

Annapurna Studios adds another dimension, combining its filmmaking legacy with advanced postproduction and the ANR virtual production stage developed with Qube Cinema. Together, these facilities strengthen Hyderabad’s appeal to producers seeking established crews and newer production technologies. The opportunity is to connect that filmmaking depth with growing demand across animation, games and immersive entertainment.

International participation is already visible. Netflix opened Eyeline Studios in Hyderabad in March 2026, establishing a 32,000-square-foot production and innovation facility linked to its global network. Warner Bros. Discovery’s Hyderabad Capability Centre supports its global business through technology, finance and other services. Amazon Prime Video also has operations in Hyderabad, with teams supporting live streaming and playback delivery worldwide. These activities underline the city’s relevance across content creation, business services and digital delivery.

The wider ecosystem strengthens the investment case. The summit identifies more than 150 AVGC and VFX companies and describes Telangana as home to India’s second largest AVGC talent pool. Hyderabad’s IT corridor, engineering workforce and international connectivity support expanding studios. For investors, the attraction is assembling creative talent, technical expertise and production support while serving Indian and international audiences. This combination can encourage collaboration across previously separate disciplines.

IndiaJoy can help turn that proposition into practical business conversations. Alongside Invest Telangana, it offers a setting to connect creators, technology companies and prospective partners around production, skills and market access. From MIPCOM to Hyderabad, Telangana’s message is increasingly focused: its audiovisual opportunity is ready for deeper international collaboration.
