TIFF Unveils Star-Studded Lineup of Galas and Special Presentations for 2024

With films spanning 25 countries, including 29 sales titles, TIFF is set to dazzle audiences and industry professionals alike from September 5 to 15, 2024

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has announced an electrifying lineup of 63 films for its 49th edition, promising to captivate audiences with a mix of high-profile premieres and diverse storytelling. The Gala programme, sponsored by Dyson, and the Special Presentations programme will showcase films from some of the world’s most celebrated directors and stars, solidifying TIFF’s reputation as a premier global cinema event.

This year’s lineup includes a blend of world premieres and highly anticipated releases from acclaimed filmmakers:

  • Jacques Audiard brings Emilia Pérez, a cross-cultural tale of intrigue.
  • Edward Berger presents Conclave, a gripping drama set in the secretive world of the Vatican.
  • Gia Coppola debuts The Last Showgirl, a poignant exploration of dreams and reality.
  • Mike Leigh offers Hard Truths, a deep dive into the complexities of modern life.
  • Morgan Neville introduces Piece By Piece, a documentary that pieces together personal and historical narratives.
  • Walter Salles returns with I’m Still Here, capturing the essence of resilience and identity.
  • Athina Rachel Tsangari brings Harvest, a touching story of human connection.
  • Jia Zhang-Ke delivers Caught By The Tides, a cinematic journey through personal and societal change.

Star-Studded Red Carpet

The festival will also see a parade of stars on the red carpet, including Amy Adams, Riz Ahmed, Cate Blanchett, Andrea Bocelli, Will Ferrell, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Alicia Vikander, Pharrell Williams, and Robbie Williams, among others. These celebrities will join the festivities over the 11 days of the festival, adding to the glamour and excitement.

A Global Cinematic Feast

Anita Lee, Chief Programming Officer of TIFF, expressed her enthusiasm for the diverse selection of films: “We have a Canada/France co-production set in the French Alps, a Seoul-set comedic debut from musician Anderson .Paak, a Bollywood glimpse into the vibrant film industry of Malegaon, India, a London-set love story starring Florence Pugh, and a highly original survival thriller from Ron Howard. I can’t wait for TIFF audiences to be transported by these journeys on the big screen.”
