The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will release the Statistical Handbook on Media & Entertainment Sector 2024-25 at WAVES 2025 on May 3, reinforcing the government’s commitment to providing reliable data for the rapidly growing M&E industry.
With the sector projected to reach INR 3,067 billion by 2027 at a 7% CAGR, the handbook offers critical insights for stakeholders.
Key data points include a surge in registered print publications to 154,523 in 2024-25, 100% DTH geographical coverage, and Doordarshan Free Dish channels growing from 33 in 2004 to 381 in 2025.
Private satellite TV channels reached 908, private FM stations hit 388, and community radio stations grew to 531 by 2025. Indian feature films certified rose to 3,455 in 2024-25.
The handbook also covers digital media, creator economy initiatives, film awards, and ease-of-doing-business reforms, making it an indispensable tool for navigating India’s dynamic M&E landscape.
