Neal Mohan, CEO of YouTube, brought a blockbuster announcement to WAVES 2025: a ₹850 crore investment to turbocharge India’s creator economy. Speaking at the Jio World Centre, Mohan celebrated India’s 15,000+ YouTube channels with over 1 million subscribers, declaring, “India isn’t just leading in music and film—it’s now a Creator Nation.”

Joined by global creators Mark Rober and Gautami Kawale of Slayy Point, Mohan highlighted YouTube’s role in globalizing Indian stories. Kawale emphasized the universal appeal of culturally rooted content, while Rober showcased how AI-enabled dubbing and localization help STEM content transcend borders. “India’s stories are going global, and YouTube is the platform making it happen,” Mohan said.

Mohan’s vision at WAVES 2025 positioned India as a creative powerhouse, with YouTube as its megaphone. His investment underscores a bold bet on Indian creators to shape the future of digital storytelling.
