Powered by digital dreams and ancient wisdom, India’s cultural heartbeat is echoing across continents, offering the world healing, harmony, and hope.
At the WAVES Summit, Nita M Ambani delivered a stirring keynote that painted India not just as a country, but as a civilization—timeless, luminous, and soul-stirring. With passion and clarity, she traced the arc of India’s cultural legacy across geographies and millennia, making a compelling case for Indian culture as one of the world’s greatest unifiers and most powerful soft powers.
Celebrating India’s rich history, Ambani spotlighted the enduring global imprint of its traditions—from the worship of Hindu deities in Japan and Indonesia, to the magnificent temples of Cambodia, to the Chaam ruins in Vietnam. India’s sacred texts—the Vedas, the Bhagavad Gita, and the teachings of the Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi—she said, continue to guide not just India, but humanity at large.
In an age obsessed with disruption, Ambani championed continuity. She reminded the audience that India is the birthplace of ‘Shunya’ (Zero), Sanskrit, Yoga, and Ayurved, and has always been a pioneer in science and philosophy. Yet, India’s essence, she emphasized, lies in its storytelling—a tradition that stretches back over 5000 years. Whether through kathavachaks, epics, temple murals or today’s cinema, India has always told its stories not just with voice, but with soul.
“In every corner of the globe,” she said, “India’s music, dance, theatre, cinema, and literature are winning hearts.” The country’s cultural exports are not just entertainment—they are emissaries of empathy, meaning, and healing in a fragmented world.
Much of this soft power, Ambani noted, is now being nurtured and shared through institutions like the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), launched two years ago to celebrate and showcase the best of Indian and global culture. Its flagship initiative, Swadesh, is a heartfelt movement to revive and promote India’s traditional arts and crafts—celebrating artisans whose skills have been handed down through generations, carrying within them the memory of centuries.
“Indian culture is not a memory frozen in time,” Ambani asserted. “It is a living, breathing force—flowing like rivers, growing like forests, and coexisting with the modern in beautiful harmony.” This very ability to hold contradictions, she said—honoring the past while embracing the future—sets India apart on the global stage.
She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, crediting his vision and leadership for reigniting India’s cultural voice internationally. Under his guidance, she said, India is stepping into the world not just with pride, but with purpose.
Ambani offered real-life illustrations of India’s cultural ambassadors—figures like Anoushka Shankar, Rishi Sharma, Vikas Khanna, and Priyanka Chopra—who are taking India’s spirit global through their art, culinary mastery, music, and storytelling.
In a powerful announcement, she shared that the NMACC will present a grand Indian Weekend at the iconic Lincoln Center in New York, showcasing the full spectrum of India’s cultural soul—from crafts and couture to cuisine, music, and dance.
In her closing call to action, Ambani urged young artists, storytellers, and creative thinkers to be the new-age narrators of India’s evolving story. “The time has come,” she said, “for Indian culture not just to inspire the world, but to transform it.”
She envisioned a future where Indian crafts shape global design, Ayurved redefines wellness, Indian storytelling reimagines the world’s imagination, and ancient wisdom guides the moral compass of the digital age.
“Culture is not just a mirror—it is a map,” Ambani concluded. “In a world building virtual reality, let us offer spiritual reality. Let us rise, not just to honor our past, but to ignite the promise of our shared future.”
