We take immense pleasure in presenting the latest edition of Pickle, specially crafted for the momentous occasion of BENGALURU GAFX 2024. Whether you hold this issue in your hands or view it on your digital screen, within these pages, you’ll find an exclusive compilation featuring India’s 100+ most influential Animation, VFX, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) powerhouses, the architects of India’s vibrant audio-visual landscape. A remarkable aspect worth noting is that a significant number of these AVGC leaders boast over two decades of dedicated work in the intricate realm of imagemaking.
Today, we honor the minds shaping AVGC, steering it toward a future rich in innovation. The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, in collaboration with sectoral ministries, formulated pivotal AVGC policies, ushering in transformative changes over the past two years. Swift policy development led to the establishment of the National Centre of Excellence for AVGC in Mumbai, a monumental achievement after 15 years of discussions. This stands as a testament to impactful government-industry collaborations, with plans for satellite Centres of Excellence to further fuel sector growth.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to ABAI Bengaluru GAFX for their unwavering support, enabling Pickle to curate and present the profiles of these AVGC Champions who are instrumental in propelling the growth of this dynamic sector.
In India, the convergence of innovation and digital transformation has created new platforms and growth opportunities for the media and entertainment industry. We believe that states will play an important role in the future expansion of the sector. BENGALURU GAFX 2024 recognizes this possibility and will create a unique platform for states to harness the sector’s potential by developing policies that promote AVGC growth.
The emphasis on Intellectual Property (IP) has become paramount, with Indian animation and virtual production studios increasingly focusing on this critical aspect. The thriving media and entertainment industry in India present lucrative opportunities for both global and domestic enterprises, and government initiatives are strategically aligned to maximize the sector’s vast potential.
We welcome your views and suggestions. Feel free to reach out with any inquiries regarding participation in global film markets and upcoming festivals in the coming months. Your insights contribute to the ongoing dialogue that shapes the dynamic landscape of the Indian AVGC sector.
Thank you for being part of this exciting journey.
