Ventana Sur, organised by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes, brings together all different players from the audiovisual industry to promote international co-production.
With the present pandemic, the 12th edition of Ventana Sur will take place in a hybrid format, comprising of both digital and theatrical screening. This edition will be held from 30 November to 4 December. For the first time since its inception, the largest film market in Latin America will expand to four other countries in the region (São Paulo, Santiago de Chile, Bogotá and the Mexico City) as well as three nations in Europe (Madrid Rome, Paris). Mexico is one of the territories that will host physical screenings of films selected for Ventana Sur 2020
Through its different sections, such as Primer Corte, Copia Final, Blood Window, Animation! and Proyecta, Ventana Sur promotes Latin American content of all genres (Fiction, Docs, Animation, Fantasy, Latin American Queer) and formats, providing a wide range of business possibilities and promotion, unique in the region. It also helps and promotes connections and co-productions between Europe and Latin-America.
Major of the activities will be organised online, including screenings, meetings, networking events and conferences. Ventana Sur will provide buyers with digital screenings of more than 100 Latin-American and 50 selected European films. Ventana will also organise theatrical screenings of 70 of those films, including Latam and European movies, at the same time.
More than 2,000 professional from around the world will participate this year, including more than 250 buyers and sellers. They will meet online with content producers at business conferences, pitching sessions and one-on-one meetings.
