India’s creator economy is poised to influence over $1 trillion in consumer spending by 2030, according to the Boston Consulting Group’s (BCG) report, “From Content to Commerce: Mapping India’s Creator Economy,” set for release at WAVES 2025 on May 3.
The report highlights that India’s 2-2.5 million digital creators currently drive $350-400 billion in annual spending, with direct revenues of $20-25 billion projected to reach $100-125 billion by decade’s end.
The report underscores the growing influence of creators, shaping 30% of consumer decisions, particularly in comedy, films, and fashion via short-form video. Only 8-10% of creators monetize effectively, signaling vast untapped potential.
Brands are scaling investments in creator marketing by 1.5-3 times, with revenue models like virtual gifting and live commerce gaining traction.
As the ecosystem expands beyond Gen Z and metro areas, the report positions India’s creator economy as a transformative force in global digital commerce.
